The Payne Jennings Co., of this city, ha*:applied for discharge from bankruptcy, and the court has decreed that a hearing be heldon said application Oct. 8. 1917, in the U. S.Court Rooms in the Government Buildihg,at 10 a.m. Department of Agriculture Notes Charles T. Dearing, assistant scientist inthe Bureau of Plant Industry, has gone toNorth Carolina where he will make arrange-monts for the seasons work at the Grapestation in that State. H. C. Garrison has gone to points in NorthCarolina, Maryland and Delaware for thepurpose of malang study of the Corn crops. R. B. Wilcox, assistant scientist is investi-gating small fruit diseases in the MiddleStates.
